My wife just bought a '19 street Glide Special. Coming from a Softail, she was excited to have tunes on board and not have to use earbuds. However, the volume is very lacking. She complains she can't hear it at highway speed. Is there a cheap amp and speaker setup that's plug and play I could get her to cure this issue? Mind you, I'm the poor one in the family and am doing this as a birthday surprise for her.
I understand the budget thing! But cheap won't get you much. If the exhaust is loud you may want to find a way to tame that down some as well? What type of helmet is she wearing? Full face, half? Full cuts a bunch of sound down. Some more info would help.
The easiest and cheapest route would be to start with a taller/better windshield. This will not be the final answer but it will help. As for the audio, give the group a budget you would like to stay within and we will try to help you get what you need.
Sorry for the lack of info. While she does have TAB Perfomance slipons, it's not obnoxiously loud. Also, no helmet is worn unless in a state where required (don't preach or judge please!). I'd like to keep the cost under $500 if possible. Would just a speaker upgrade help? If so,and I know this is speculative, who makes the best bang for the buck direct replacement speakers? This is not for a competition setup. This is just to keep the wife happy going down the road. Also, she's not an audiophile. She just wants to be able to hear the tunes.
Replacing speakers without adding an amp is definitely not going to get it done. The setup TG posted above will make her quite happy and is under your max budget.
