Default stupid newb question (sry)

new to this whole bagger thing, just bought a 2200mile 16 road glide ultra and this is the first bike i've owned with audio, I like it more than ii thought I would! of course i'd like to HEAR the audio on the highway, but i'm not wanting to go crazy.
I thought maybe speaker upgrades for now, but add an amp later, so speakers to handle the future upgrade.
thought MAYBE adding 4 MMATS 601CX now (fairing and tourpack)
I've been reading the audio section for a few days now and sometimes i'm more lost when I finish than when I start!
the mmats should be plug and play at least until I add the amp later?

thanks in advance

There are some very knowledgeable people on this site that have helped alot of people with their setup. What I have gathered was before you start buying audio equipment do your homework and plan out your whole system. go to rallies and listen to the bikes and ask questions. If you can listen before you buy, great. a lot of people have different ideas but the one that count is yours.

The Mmats are very nice for the price. But just speakers will be a step backwards; With them you will need Bt Line levers and a amp. The stinger spx700.4 with the mmats and you will have no problems hearing it on the interstate.

New speakers with no amp installed will put you 2steps back.

What was suggested above would be a good setup for you.

The Stinger amp is a 4 channel amp that you will grow into.

Ok, thanks for the info. Curious how speakers only would be a step backwards? Are the stock speakers amplified instead of the head unit providing the wattage? I remember infinity systems in mopar cars and trucks being like that. I’m knowledgeable in car audio, motorcycle audio is a whole new deal for me.
I’ll plan on doing the camp abc speakeds all at once.

New speakers will demand more power than the stock set-up can provide, that being said if you try and push them with the stock head unit alone the power isn't there and they will sound like chit and possibly damage the speaks.

The Mmats 601.cx and the Stinger 700 are a great combo. Putting mine in this weekend. Not sure about your tour pack pods, but I have an 05 Ultra and had to add an adapter plate to the rear pods in order to get the depth needed to fit the Mmats. I used the VTwin speaker adapters. A little pricey, but look good once installed. I also had to make a slight notch in the inner ring inside the pod for the capacitor on the Mmats speaker to fit it into the pod. Easy enough, but wanted to let you know they don't just drop in.

I also used the Vtwin adaptors for my 16 RGU tour pack. The price is going to scare you ($100) but they work and look good too. I also had to cut a relief into the pods in the fairing to get the MMats to fit. I am running the MMats MD4110 amp and 4 MMats PA601.4CX speakers. I am also running the Sony 5000 radio. I am very satisfied with this set up. I will post a picture of what I had to do to the fairing pods.

Here is the picture of the relief cut I had to make to get these speakers in the fairing.
