Default Recommendation on Stereo Upgrade

My head is spinning with all different sorts of information on upgrading stereo in my 14 Street Glide Special. I'm looking for clean crisp sound with punch to it. Idk if that's possible! What do you all recommend,
Fairing Speakers
Amp
6x9 for lids
Possibly head unit swap
I'm good with installing, but no clue how to tune. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Oh budget would be $1,000-$1,500.

Does the budget include the lids too or just the speakers? Your budget is enough either way I think but it will help with suggestions.

I think swapping the head unit out for the Sony is the best thing you can do for clean sound and easy tuning.

Changing that head unit out will eat 1/3 of that $1500 budget. Better off looking
at a dsp maybe a used arc. That will get it done.

That is true on the surface but I was able to sell the stock HU and make up the entire $500 I have into the Sony so the new head unit was basically free. It’s a shell game but in the end it works out better than the Line Leveler route if you don’t want/need a DSP.

Ok just trying to get some ideas, ill throw another $500 in the budget for head unit and possibly recoup. Lids are already ordered and not in that budget

I'm running an aftermarket HU and would put my Boom 6.5 back in that biatch tomorrow. Just not into my phone being such an integral part of the HU. I ride to get the hell away from my phone!!!! The SQ is better w aftermarket but there are a lot of other things to consider. A DSP can get u in a great damn place with the Boom 6.5.

Take ur time on this decision and ultimately how far ur gonna go with sled audio.

Even though this is counter to the advice I already gave, this is great advice as well. Ultimately my decision to go with the Sony was to get the best SQ I could without running a DSP. I put together a solid 4 speaker system and that was all I wanted. I did not want to get serious and learn how to tune a DSP and I surely was not going to take my bike somewhere to be built/tuned. For me working on the bike and learning new stuff is all part of the experience. Now that I built/learned the basics, I am itching to keep going, so now I’m researching for phase 2 that may or may not include the DSP. From hanging out here for the past 4-5 months, I can tell you that you may end up in deeper than you originally intended. Just food for thought.

One other thing I have learned is: there is not a one size fits all solution. Do not just take the advise of a single person and brake out the credit card. Take your time and research and research and research some more.
