Default Best 4 speaker set up

Looking for recommendations for the best 4 speaker set up. About to pull my hair out at all of the options out there. Don’t wish to keep buying and replacing. Don’t really want to add horns to this if can be avoided but it is in play if needed.

Current set up is 2015 road glide standard
2 Hertz HCX 165s in fairing
2 Mmats 601.4 in the lowers
Sony XAV 5000 head unit
Rockford Fosgate dsr1
SD 800.4 evo S amp

Just like opinions on what is the best. I know options vary and everyone’s ears are different. I like it really loud with a little thump. I know I’m not going to get a ton of bass without adding lids but really don’t wish to do that. Can’t really hear them on the highway so wasteful unless trying to compete I think.
Was thinking of soundz customs speaks but not really sure they are worth what they charge and would really hate to drop that much and be disappointed.

All ideas are appreciated.

Thanks,

What makes you think Soundz would be better than your current setup?

Which model sd800 do you have, 2 or 4 ohm? What don’t you like about your current system?

Dont know that for a fact. I have two riding buddies that had systems installed by them a couple of years back and both sound great. Much louder and clearer than mine with some thump depending upon music. That was prior to their own line of speakers though. They installed Focal speakers with Arc amp back then. Not sure which model though.

Second part of your question for me is that it just isn’t loud enough for me. The Hertz sound good but could be louder. The Mmats don’t impress me at all. I have a tune file being sent to me for the dsr1 that I will load today and see if that helps. If not then in the market for more once again I guess.

Where both of those installs on Road Glides? If not, there isn't really an apples to apples comparison.

Considering the platform, I think your problem is power and tuning. At best case your SOUNDIGITAL SD800.4D EVO 4 is only capable of outputting 110W to 144W per channel driving a 4 Ohm load pushed to four channels. I don't really think there is an issue with your current speakers. The HCX 165 are proven performers built like a tank and can easily handle more power than you're giving them. Same thing for the MMATS. Loud is an interesting term that gets used a lot when discussing bike audio. But it really boils down to about five things;

Wattage coming from the AMP
Power handling capability of the speakers
Sensitivity rating of the speakers
How much clean power can you feed the speakers before they start to distort
How many speakers you're running

I commonly recommend to people that they target 150W minimum per channel on a Shark Nose, and 175W to 225W or more is even better.

If you want "louder" figure out a solution for driving more clean watts to your current speakers. Tweak your tune, and then go from there.

If you are talking about BEST set up with no budget concerns. I'd go with:

Fairing Beyma 6CX200Nd
Lowers Beyma 6GMnd
Amp SD 800.4 to the Fairing speakers
Diamond Audio micro4 (it fits) to the lowers
Sony Radio
Arc PSM or DD DSI1 as the DSP.

Let it rip.

This is a great reco for the RG!!! Just wondering how would you adjust this for an Ultra with the Batwing? I'm not sure that DA will fit under the hood with the SD, will it? TIA!
