What amplifiers fit 2012 Road Glide and what speakers would you recommend?
I have a new to me 2012 RG Ultra. It has stock head unit (single DIN) and stock speakers. Right now I want to do an amp and fairing speakers (stock sucks and really cannot be heard at 55 mph). I will save up and this winter do a new deck and lower fairing speakers. I have been reading the forums and trying to come up with the best bang for buck. One thing I am wondering is what amps will fit in the fairing? I have read a lot of recommendations for the Soundstream PN4.1000D and like the price, but don't know if it will fit. Maybe someone knows of a better option for an amp that fits, I am open to suggestions.
I am leaning toward Hertz ECX or HCX 165.5 for the upper fairing speakers. Do they sound like a good plan? Can I run those at 2 ohms to get more power out of amp, or does it now work like that? Any other speakers you would recommend?
The Soundstream fits easily on top of an aftermarket radio, but may not fir on the stock one, especially with any modules there. You can fit 2 small amps on each side though. 2 behind the pockets, and 2 between the pockets and the radio, with a mount like the Biketronics mount. I haven't tried a Stinger 700 amp there but it should fit, but I know Biketronics, Arc Moto 600.4, Cerwin Vega B52 and B54, Focal FDP Sport, and many other small amps will fit in there. Plenty of room in those shark fairings. I would look at WDX Moto G2's or MMAts 601CX in the fairing, both have great sound and are plenty loud.

Few questions:
Why would the soundstream fit on top of aftermarket radio and not the stock hu? my radio is the stocker with cd player and when I replace it I will probably just do the Jensen HD1BT since from what I have read, it is a direct replacement/plug and play.
As for speakers, it looks like a pretty big price difference between the WDX and the MMATs you recommend. What is the difference? Do you think they are better than the Hertz?
I am not questioning your knowledge, just wondering since I really have no clue and am going by what I have read. Don't want to do it twice, but also do not want to break the bank or win any sound competitions.
Thanks.
I have two (2) Soundigital 800.4D amps, One SD 250.2D amp and a Digital Design DSI-2 Processor all in the fairing of my 2012 RG Custom.
The SD 800.4D's are each mounted, with industrial Velcro, on the side of the fairing behind each glove box and the SD 250.2 is mounted on the left side up against the back of the fairing.
The DD DSI-2 is mounted above the Sony MEX M100BT head unit.
There are also mounts made that attach to the fairing bolts that you can put the amps on.
There is pretty much enough room in a prerushmore fairing to install most amplifiers.
Hope this helps.

Most aftermarket radios are not as thick as the factory HU, giving you more room on top. That Jensen is about the same as factory so not as much room on top. Both the Moto's and the MMats sound great. The MMats are priced each, and deals can be found for the Moto's, so they are about the same price. Hertz are good, but I like these better, just my opinion.

hey mike, you got me thinking outside of the box... I have an mb quart MA1-440.4 that's just a little too big to install over my aquatics head unit.... I wondered your thoughts or others about mounting to fairing with ind. Velcro and maybe how those unused outer fairing bolt holes might come into play? I'm working on an 04 e glide. Polk db6502 6.5 front and Rockford 6x9 tms69bl9813 lid kit.
never used a forum before, hopefully I'm not stepping on anyone's thread here.
