I listened to both the GZ 7x10 and Mmat PA690CX side by side tonight. The Mmats edge out the GZ's on clarity and mid bass.
I like to hear that. Im about to replace my RF's with the mmats. I like the RF speakers, but seems like to my uneducated ears, the mmats 601cx in the fairing over power the RFs. Maybe its how they're tuned though.
Will the mmats fit the RF lids without mods? Anything I need to be aware of?

I asked Gypyse on the fit topic, some grinding required to get the MMats in the RF lid..... I bought some ARCs from him and had to grind a bit.
My MMats in front overpower my Motos In the rear when running hwy speed. I shift the fade 3 or 4 bars to the rear to get a sweet spot. IThe ARCs are not as efficient as the MMats....

Set me straight brother...I've got GZ's on order, running a set-up close to what you heard.. Stock HU DSR-1 BT4250 Should I just sell the GZ's sealed in the box? and cut my losses? Significant improvement over my Arc Moto609's? Anything a plus for the GZ's? Mostly listen to classic rock

Didn't Lucky 7 recommend them GZ 7x10s? Surely there has to be some meat on that bone.

And that is why I wanted to hear the GZ's. I know the mmats are solid. I just wanted to know if the 7x10's were any better and had more low end. As far as fitting in the rf lid kit, I didn't trim the mmats I just redrilled the holes for the screws. I only drilled 2 holes in the speakers to get them to fit snug. I am curranntly running them off a vadm4 bridged and around 200w to each. They really thump but right now I have them crossed around 180 so they don't compete with the 10's in my bags for air space. Thanks DSM for the update.

I'm not saying the 690cx's smoked the gz's, Just edged them.
The gz still sounded good, I like them. Time spent in the tuning playground will surely make a difference. I'm betting you'll really like them over the motos.

Thanks brother... I'm gonna open the box!
Hoping to have them in for Sound Warz in St. Lou, so that the Forum guru's can play with them..
