OK guys I would like to upgrade my current stock system, on my 2011 ultra limited. would like bluetooth and to keep good fm reception. My antenae is mounted in my fairing. And would like to keep handlebar controls. Is there a head unit with built in amp? what speakers do you guys recomend? Plug and play would be great.I dont need anything crazy just good sound with a little more volume.Any advice would be appreciated. Trying to keep it simple.
1. Stinger SPX700X4 ($300)
2. Mmats PA601CX in the fairing with adapters ($220 pair $15 for adapters)
3. Mmats PA601 in the rear with some drilling needed ($160 pair) Or a good pair of 5.25 speakers. I use the Kicker 46CSC54 ($60 at Crutchfield)
4. There are many Head Units that will work. I have the JVC KD-X35MBS, ($100 though Crutchfield and discounts on installation gear) it works very well but the buttons (presets) are hard to push with gloves on.
5. That leaves enough left over for the handlebar module, mounting brackets, and amp wiring kit.
As far as you FM goes, why is your antenna in the fairing? Did you remove the tour pak? With a clsss D amp that close to antenna and radio, there is a very good chance it will obstruct the FM signal.
I'm sure some of the others will have some better ideas than me. But here's my 2 cents. Enjoy the ride.

I do remove the tour pack sometimes thats why the antenae is in the fairing. not sure if a amp would cause problems with reception or not.I know there is a lot of great advice on here and me being a audio newbe I sure appreciate the info.
I have the stinger amp and did the antenna under the seat hack. When I had the sound stream amp, my FM reception was gone. Stinger amp my reception is back!
Well other factors are in play such as location and signal strength of your local stations , so I cant guarantee it, but I got mine back using the stinger amp versus the SS I had before.
