Another dumb question: Do you give up control resolution on the volume by setting the amp gain for 75% of source volume? Or, asking that another way, can the radio still be turned all the way up?
If max gains are set at 3/4 volume than that is your new max for volume. Can you turn it up sure
but be prepared for distortion or magic smoke eventually

When you set your HU at 75% and set your gains to that.....75% is now your WOV (wide open volume). Do not go past that point.

In the interest of protecting the system, wouldn't it make more sense to either use 100% of source output volume or decrease the target voltage to 75% when setting the gain?

Or, is setting the gain at 75% of source volume an exercise with sound quality as the goal?

Hopefully no one is getting too frustrated by these questions. Just trying to understand what the ultimate goal is for setting an amp up this way.

Your using 75% volume on the head unit as a max because it's usually a safe bet that you'll have a clean output signal into the amp. You don't want to amplify a distorted signal. If you set your gains with the volume at 100% that's exactly what you'll be doing

Gotcha. The objective is clear now. Thanks!

I'll be reassembling everything tonight and getting ready for my trip to the mountains on Friday.

Hopefully no more stumbling blocks finishing things up.

Again, I appreciate it guys.

Don't worry about asking "dumb" questions, others are learning right along with you. Self included.

I've got everything in, but I'm not sure I've got the amp set right. Either it's quiet, or I'm more deaf than I thought.

I set the output for 21 VAC with a 1kHz test tone. That was based on sqrt (220W x 2 ohms) = 20.97V.

Can someone with more audio knowledge than me double check that?

Maybe I just need a good audiologist...

Ur math is correct but if them speakers are not in ur face at 220 watts u should get hearing aids ASAP.

Something smells fishy within ur setup brother.

Could I have screwed something up with the BT355? That seemed like a pretty straight forward plug in operation. No adjustment needed?

It also seems like the setup lacks bass. I know these are only 6.5 inch speakers, but I would've expected a little more than what I'm getting.

On the amp:
1. The crossover switch is set to "Full"
2. The "sensitivity" was adjusted to give me 21 VAC
3. I didn't adjust the "frequency".

Any thoughts on what I can check here?
