The Hogtune lids are ok, they have a few issues. The tabs that hold the latch in will come apart after awhile. No biggie just have to glue them back on. The other one is the screw boss area that holds the speaker in is a little flimsy. If youre not careful you can break off that part.
Other than that they fit good and dont leak. This has just been my experience with them over the past 3 years that the Ive had them.
Not sure about the hog lids, but I did the RF kit...cutting the stock lids. Fitment is very nice and still good after a few months. The price will probably be about the same as buying the HT lids. I think I gave 420 for the RF kit, then bought the mmats 690 cx4 speakers and sold the RF speakers for 110 I believe. The mmats were 220 shipped. So about 500 all in. The RF mounts require just a little modification to make the mmats work. I think I had to redrill two speaker mount holes and the did just a little trimming witht he dremel tool on the lid mounting plate to make the mmats sit flush.
They sound great! Others have said the GZ's sound great as well, but seem to require more mods...at least to fit the RF speaker lids.
How effective are they when you're at speed? Even though I told myself I was done after putting the amp and MMats in the fairing.......
I have the mmats in the fairing as well. I can hear the 690's at most any spead, but the bass is lost after about 45 to 50. Still, seems like I'm inside a sound bubble...thats the only way to describe it.....very good sound.
