Default JL 8.8" speakers

Plan to upgrade lids to Speed by design lids. I heard their 8" lids can work with the 8.8 Jl's but the speaker hitting the hardware. have to trim for the baskets. The JL audio have huge baskets or u can drop down to the 7.7. Any one has done this and can show some pics how to trim the hardware? Thanks

What year bike do you have?

I have the JL880'S on my 14 Limited. They are mounted in VooDoo lids. Those lids are made for the 8.8s and no trimming needed. The 8.8s are hands down a major improvement over the 7.7s.

The biggest advantage to those JL's are they're waterproof. I call them my margherita mixers. Expensive, but worth it!!

Here's a pic

My bike is 2010 Street Glide but I have nastyhog big nasty bags which come with 2014 One Touch laches&2014 style bags. I just ordered SPD twisted 8" lids. Some pics as follow:

Somebody told me I can use JL 8.8" speakers on these lids but I will have to trim the latches. Not sure if somebody did so and can show some pics. Thanks

U will have to trim and add a spacer. A guy over here in Socal has done it. He molded the spacer into the lids. Seen it with my own eyes.
