I know RF sells their 6x9 lid kit where you cut your own lids and install the kit, they dont sell these without their speakers though, that Ive seen anyway, does anyone make a DIY kit like that where I can mount some MMats 690s in them? I wanna keep the stock look but not have to shell out $$$$ for paint.
I've not heard of another kid like that. I did the rf kit and just swapped out the speakers for the mmats. I sold the rf speakers for around 100 bucks, so you can recoup some of that money Also, you can buy the kit through rf and tell them you're a forum member to get a discount. I think I paid 420 for the kit. There are companies that sell lids already set up for adding speakers. Not really any cheaper than the rf kit I dont think.
I'm not aware of any cut your own kit other than RF's. I used it and have my RF 6x9's for sale, but not much interest here. Might have better luck selling the 6 x9's on FleaBay or Craig's List. Just my experience...

Americanhardbagger.com has a cut in kit you can buy without the speakers.

I went with a set of Hogtunes lids and painted them because my stock lids had rails mounted in them. I can't say they are any better than the RF setup but it worked for me. When y'all mentioned the RF speakers I agree on the sound quality. I ran a set for a while and eventually went with some Polks. The newer speakers seem to be better though. I heard a new RF kit at a dealer with the RF amp and it sounded pretty good for a four speaker setup. Also I can attest that those RF 6x9s are definitely waterproof if that is a concern.
I don't have my phone with me but there is a Shop on FB that is about to release 6x9 speaker rings to use in stock cut bags. Videos look pretty good and should be out anyday now. When I get home I'll find the link.
