Plug n play radio with cd player?
So......a lot of us have started like you have.
Speaker upgrade, followed by HU upgrade, followed by amp upgrade, followed by another speaker upgrade, etc.
Most of us were just on the simple quest of being able to hear and enjoy out tunes.
I currently run the Sony MEX70 BT Marine head unit with a Biketronics hand control module. There is a new version of this model. I am still old school and still use my CDs. Toss one in at a gas stop and I'm good. The bonus, is that HU also does Bluetooth and USB, in the event you choose to go that route down the road. My phone is set up with tunes, along with a few mini USB drives I carry with different music on each.
It was not plug and play, but it was not that hard to install. I also believe Biketronics sells install kits with the adapter plate, a rain guard, and the hand control module that will work with pretty much any aftermarket HU. It was not the cheapest option, or the easiest, but I am happy with it. I have been through numerous upgrades, but my Head unit has been the same for 5 years.
Unfortunately the goal of enjoying your tunes out on the highway is probably not going to be achieved without adding an amp.
Not sure how your current speakers will work out over the long long either.
Plan accordingly, and it will save you from having to do numerous upgrades to reach your goal. I went through 6 speaker swaps and 4 amps before I was finally happy. The sad part of it, is the fact that the main part of my system is probably worth less than most of the previous combinations I tried along the way.
Find yourself a good Marine Head unit that has the features you need for the long haul. Pick up an install kit.
Plan on an amp. Lots of reasonable priced choices out there. Most of us will gladly help you pick an amp.
Pick a decent coax speaker like the Mmats 601.cx, and you'll be rocking!!
My main system on my Ultra is the Sony MEX70 BT, a Stinger SPX 700, and 4 x Mmats 601.cx speakers. Great sounding system with lots of volume. In my opinion you will definitely be able to enjoy that rolling down the road, even if you only go with 2 Mmats and a decent amp.

Thanks for the info and knowledge, and I'm like you still use those damn cds we all have hundreds of.. leaning towards the sony mex72 guess this is the newest version and come truly plug n play. Since I started this thread I purchased a db drive neo2 amp with 6.5 db moto6 speakers have not did the install yet to review but since I'll have bike tore apart might as well do the radio. Have 09 road glide
I'm not familiar with the neo2 amp, but looking at the specs, it looks shy on power for those DB Moto speakers. It will run them, and they are fairly efficient, but not sure if you'll get the volume levels you'll need to enjoy them out on the highway.
I currently have a set of DB Moto WDX6 G2s in my fairing. Im feeding them around 100 watts and they work great once you get your x-overs set and your EQ set up in the HU. If it's possible, I would try and upgrade that amp. A bigger amp will definitely help those DBs reach their potential. Those speakers are rated for 50 - 150 watts. I have plenty of volume at 100 watts with the Stinger 700, but always wonder what it would be like at 150 watts, lol.
