I've been a member for a few years. I do a lot of reading but not a lot of posting and my computer skills are marginal at best so bear with me. This has probably been covered countless times but I'm looking to upgrade my audio system on a 2019 FLTRXS. I want to add lid speakers along with an amp and upgraded front speakers. From the reading I have done on various places on the internet, there are several dozen options out there varying from plug and play to very complicated component setups. I'm just trying to get a better sounding system for rider and passenger. I'm a wrench turner not an electrical engineer, so the plug and play stuff looks pretty good except for the price. The build your own systems to be the way most on this forum go and are cheaper. I do have the extended warranty on the bike so that may or may not make a difference. It's winter up here in Vermont so I have plenty of time to do this.
Lots of options. There's stuff for sale from guys previous builds. Then there's the mmats coax and stinger amp combo that's mentioned countless number of times. I started with a biketronics 2250 amp kit (which is for sale in the for sale forum) now have moved onto other things. Lots of options for you
I would like to keep it under a grand if possible. The RF kit where you use your own lids looks like best deal for that end of it.
Biketronic's stuff has a lifetime warranty. The 4250 and 2250 have gain adjustments but none of their amps have high or low pass filters, which are needed to tune most any speaker. DSP is an option but will add some cost and balloon your budget The RF cut your own lid kit saves some cash on paint but the speakers that come with the kit are lacking, but would still be better than nothing. Don't pay $499, look for a listing on Ebay with the option to "Make Offer". I got mine for $400 shipped, another member recently said he picked a kit up for $385.
You will need an amp wiring kit, a BT line leveler or two, if you want fade. The MMats 601cx's for the front stage and Stinger 700 amp, along with the RF kit will eat up your grand budget. You may want to upgrade the 6x9's but the RFs will work in the interim. Keep an eye on the Forum Audio classifieds... most of my stuff I bought off Forum Members.
Enjoy the ride....
