Default INstall question

Ok, dumbass moment of the day from me....

I've run 8 gauge wire from battery to amp (+ and -). I have a tap harness to have switched power from the bike. Don't remember the HD part number, but you prob know it. Is that power sufficient to run a DSP? Also, the dsp (DD DSI-2) has remote need as well. My thinking is this....switched power to dsp power, and to remote in for dsp. Then from remote out (on dsp) to the amp remote.
Is that too much draw for the tap wire?

Use that power to remote turn on to the DSP, then the DSP will turn on the Amp/amps.

If you don't have a distribution block you can get 12 volt power from your 8 gauge power and ground at the amps. I would run a 10-15 amp inline fuse to the DSP.

2020 Ultra, stock head unit.

If I add more amps later, I'll do a distribution block. For now, as per Juice, I'll run a line from the 8gauge amp feed to power the DSP.

Thanks guys

That will work just put an inline fuse to the DSP.

Eliminate all the potential BS and graphics a 12 pack of beer and run that18-24 awg +- wire to battery and then use the remote turn on directly from a sled accessory. That DSP is the heart of your setup thus protect it from all the other BS that could resulting from taps and splices. Not the easiest path but I keep my DSPs separate from all the other wiring chaos that can result from multiple amp wiring strategies.

2 pennies. More than one correct answer here though.

Not a bad idea. Have extra 16 gauge wire laying around I could use for a new run.
