Default Another audio thread (DSR1, Hertz, Fosgate, etc)

I have read numerous threads and haven’t found answers to my questions.. In short, I have Streetglide with lower fairings (pods on order for them) and a tourpak (pods on order for it) and want to get a few questions answered and opinions on speakers before I make my next purchase.

Current Setup:

In my faring I have Hertz MPK 165.3 Pro speakers
In my bag lids I have the Fosgate cut in kit with Fosgate 6x9’s
For an amp I have the Fosgate TM400x4ad
For tuning i have the DSR1

Question: I would like to run a 2nd amp in either my tourpak or saddlebag and would like to know the best way to tap into the DSR1 so i can tune each speaker properly in the dsr1. I am using the Fosgate T harness and have front and rear channels setup. What is the best method for running another 4 channel amp off of that dsr1?

Opinion 1: i would like to add speakers to my lower fairings and to my tourpak pods AND i would like to replace my 6x9’s in my lids. What are your recommendations? I was thinking the MPX 6.5 coaxes for the lowers and tour pak and the mpx 6x9 for the lids but am open to other opinions. I do a lot of highway touring and my current setup is audible at 80mph but i would like it louder sometimes. What are your thoughts and why?

Opinion 2: What 2nd amp would you recommend? I was looking at another Fosgate TM400x4ad but also considered the MMATS 4110. What are your thoughts and why?

Running another amp shouldnt be anymore difficult than hooking it up the same as your existing amp, if I know the dsr1 right you should have 8 outputs and currently with 4 leftover so that will work with both amps you mentioned. I personally like the mmats amp more costs less and more power. If wanting to run coax I dont really have an opinion because I personally havent used them in a long time, but nothing wrong with hertz. Many of the guys here like the mmats coax though. I could be wrong but if your running primarily coax speakers you dont really need the dsp.

I understand that the DSR1 can run that many channels, my question is more so what is the best way to tap into the harness. right now there are no extra leads or anything like that coming off of it. I could take it out of the harness and run RCA's and such but that would be messy. Wondering if there is a better way.

If I'm understanding ur inquiry, u don't need to touch the harness at all. All that DSR need is 2 channels of HU signal to run all the speakers. I think u said u had 4 channel input already thus u program what speaker channels are fed by what, depending on the DSP.

The DSR is inline with the Fosgate amp T Harness. The speaker level inputs go into the DSR1 and the DSR1 output goes to the amp. It only has 4 channels out using the harness. My options I think are ..

1. Splice into the output of the DSR1 and run that to a 2nd amp (the extra 4 channels)
2. Keep the DSR1 as line level inputs and then use the RCA outputs and go into the amps that way
3. is there a different harness out there?

You should not be splicing anything. You should be adding rca cables. To add an amp to the saddlebag or tour pack you need to run power, ground, remote, and rcas to wherever you mount the amp. Then speaker wire out of the amp to the speakers.

option number 2, without a doubt, the best way to go.

Ditch the harness and use the traditional 8 channel output harness it came with? Run 4 channels to one amp and 4 channels to the other amp?
I have no clue what this T harness is all about but it sounds like it's creating more headache for u than anything. I don't have any fancy harnesses and run 4 amps w traditional RCA logic out of the DSP.

Shooting in the dark here brother as I have no clue what that T harness is doing for union the output side of the DSR.

I guess the "t" harness is what's tripping me up as well.

I wish he said what bike he has also.

thanks for the help I will go rca out. For reference, the amp kit from fosgate for a 2019 touring bike is the t harness. The dsr1 plugs into that. That is what I was referencing.
