Speaker choices
I've been around for about a year now, and realize at least some of the mistakes I made in building my stereo. Now it's time to plan the rebuild, doing things the right way. The basis of this is to add a tour pack so the wife can ride with me, and we can both enjoy the music. The intention is not for competition but for real world sound quality at highway speeds.
I plan on starting the build with a new EvoX 1200.4. Assuming specs are similar to the 1200.4s, it should give roughly 200 watts at 4 ohms, and 400 at 2 ohms. I also have a 600.1 2 ohm to play with.
My plan, as it stands now, is to use 1 channel for my 4 8 ohm horns, 1 channel in parallel for the fairing midbass, 1 channel in parallel for the lower midrange and 1 channel either left open, or add TP pods for another set of midrange. The 600.1 will push the 2 8s in the lids.
I'm leaning towards yellow basket 8s in the lids, and the new PRV 4ohm 6MR500 for the lowers. That leaves choices to be made for the fairing midbass and potentially TP pods. Everytime we ride a bike with rear pods she bitches that it vibrates her ***, so we will see.
So for the fairing, I need 6.5s, preferably 4 ohm, that can handle 200 watts each. Again, I'm leaning towards the yellow basket/horn combo.
Any ideas, thoughts, strategies im missing? This will co.e from a Sony 5000 and DSR1 which are already installed.
