I have read so many posts that I do not know what questions to ask. Thanks to all who respond. It is much appreciated. I have a 2016 Street Glide with the 4.3 system. I only have the two front fairing speakers. I have the handlebar controls. (Not sure if all have these so I thought I would add this) All I want to do is swap out the 4.3 for a 6.5 so I can have the GPS and SiriusXMradio and use the handlebar controls.
Can I just swap out the head units and be done? After reading about wiring harness, amps, line levelers, install and flash it on a 2019 model first, etc I have no clue what to do. I do not want to spend extra dollars for nothing.
I also wanted to ask why so many are taking the 6.5 off and replacing it with aftermarket models? Is it better to just go get the Sony 7000 (which seems to be the favorite right now?) or perhaps another model? Just curious.
Hooper as far as swapping out to a non Harley head unit keep in mind that you will lose the weather resistance and several other Harley specific features. Also the Sony does not have built in navigation that runs off of satellites, you would have to rely on cell service for nav.
