Has anyone made their own rain cover for the Sony 5000 head unit? I found some pics of one that someone made using magnets and was thinking of making my own. Just curious if anyone maybe has a write up or something? Thanks. Got everything ordered just waiting for Mmats to get the speakers in stock and shipped out to me. Otherwise everything else is sitting on my work bench. Getting closer!
Bluesman pretty much covered everything you need. On the amp front I just built my system using a Massive TX48 and MMat's 601cx's, the rear channels were pushing a pair of PRV 8's. The TX48 played very well with the MMat's. If you're interested my setup is for sale (TX48 and a pair of MMats) and will keep you way under your budget, you'd just need another pair of MMats and BT355's.
Received the Mmats speakers the other day and the tour pack adapters will be delivered tomorrow. Planning to do my install tomorrow. Questions I have are:
where do you tie the remote power wire into for the amplifier?
Stinger Spx-700, what should my settings be on the amp as far as gain and frequencies? Hpf-flat-lpf. Which one?
The Sony has a remote wire. Fat Heads leaves it sticking out - its blue with black shrink wrap on the end. It wasnt long enough to reach my amp so I just added some length to it.
Look at the sticky for tuning an amp. But it should be set to HPF and the dial should be somewhere around the 10 oclock position (80hz)

Good to hear everything is finally showing up.
Make sure you use the screw inserts supplied with the Vtwin speaker adapters. I just used the factory ones in the pods, buy they popped loose going down the highway.
You will have to rotate your speakers a little to find the best way to fit them in the rear pods. If you look at my previous picture of the adapters, you might be able to get an idea of how much I rotated them to get the best fit. You will also have to cut a bit of a notch in your pod, behere the old Speaker used to mount in order for the capacitor on the Mmats speaker to clear.
Good luck. Won't be long know ant you will be rolling down the highway with some rocking tunes, and a big grin on your face.
