Default 17 FLTRU help be build a system

Ok, got a 17 fltru that I bought brand new with the 6.5 boom head unit. I added the J&M rokker xxrk system with the 2 speakers for the fairing and amp. Going to be purchasing the Sony xav-ax5000 head unit from fathead cycles in the next few days and I’m thinking I’d like to put a different amp and do all 4 speakers this time around. Would like loud and clear without having to have the volume almost maxed out. I have an iPhone so the Apple CarPlay will be a nice feature for navigation over Harley’s setup which is cumbersome and the unit takes quite awhile to boot up and startup and takes a few minutes to connect the phone via Bluetooth. So what I would like from you guys is to build me a system consisting of an amp and 4 speakers that won’t break the bank but will pack a punch when I want to rock out. Not interested in giving up any bag space or adding lid speakers. 4 speakers in the stock locations. Been searching my rearend off on audio for this bike and I just need some straight up advice.

Let me know. Thanks

You haven't mentioned a budget, but I'll toss in my 2 cents for an amp and speakers. This a great riders set up that doesn't take up any extra space.
I highly recommend the 4 channel Stinger 700 SPX as a great budget friendly amp that is tough to beat for quality, sound, and value. It fits in the fairing sitting right on top of the head unit.
As for the speakers, the Mmats PA601.cx are a great choice. They sound good, they are efficient enough to give you more than enough volume, they can be ordered with waterproofing, and are quite often recommended because of these reasons.
The pods in the fairing will require some modification in order to fit most decent speakers. A window will be needed to be cut in the pod to allow clearance for the magnet and then the window can then be covered back up with some Dyna-mat.
They will fit in the tour pack and will also sound good from there as well. Unfortunately they are not drop in. They will require an adapter like the V-twin Speaker adapter, or something similar in order to fit in the rear pods. The speaker will have to be rotated to a spot where they will fit, and the rear pods will need a small mod/notch cut in the lip of the pod to allow the Speaker capacitor to fit into the pod.

As in most cases you get what you pay for. Although you probably didn't get your moneys worth with the J&M Rokkers. I have used the J&M Rokkers in the past and have no regrets upgrading to this set up.
There are cheaper alternatives, but I have yet to find anything cheaper that sounds as good as this package or is as loud and clear is this package.

Good luck, hope this helps. Rock on and play it Loud!!!

I guess I never noticed that you have a roadglide. I believe the stinger will still work, but I sits on top of the headlight instead of on top of the head unit.

I new I was forgetting something!! My budget for speakers and an amp is between $500-$700. Maybe spend a bit more if it gets me to where I want to be with my setup.

This will get you close. Loud and clear, if you think you may add lowers later Then I would rethink the amp.
Stinger will run about 175
Mmats 400
Install kit 60
Vtwin Adapters 100

Bluesman pretty much covered everything you need. On the amp front I just built my system using a Massive TX48 and MMat's 601cx's, the rear channels were pushing a pair of PRV 8's. The TX48 played very well with the MMat's. If you're interested my setup is for sale (TX48 and a pair of MMats) and will keep you way under your budget, you'd just need another pair of MMats and BT355's.

That amp is a beast on paper, I have not seen one dyno'd. If the price is right I would buy that amp.

Our brother Tailwind was I believe the first to bring the TX48 to our attention. a bunch of us got them shortly thereafter. I didn't dyno mine but as I stated it is more than enough for the MMats. After our batch Massive had some issue with the next one as far as power figures went. I'll shoot you a message.

Can't go wrong there. The Stinger does a great job of running the Mmats and they are loud and clear. But for those of us looking to squeeze out every ounce of potential with our systems, the Mmats will handle a few more watts than the Stinger has. Thus the TX 48 comes into play. It has more power than the Stinger. I've actually got a TX48 to try out on my system as well. Can't vouch for it yet as I haven't tried it, but lots of others have been trying it out.

I see the Mmats speakers are out of stock right now. Where is everyone buying their amp wiring kits from? Brand? Anything else that I will need besides wiring kit, amp, and speakers?
