2016 RG Fairing only Speaker's, yes another thread
First off sorry, however this is driving me crazy. So running Sony AX-7000 HU with a BT 2180 amp and currently Polk DB652 6.5" speakers.
So system is great, have full control of what I want, now it time to do the speakers, they do well, but I know I can do better. Music, Hard core rock, would like some low range to hear the drum's. I know with an open air I won't get much but just want better than the Polk's. I know everyone seems in love with the Mmatts. Below we're 2 other option's given and they have had lot's of installs on HD's and shop has had nothing be Kudo's. They don't get mentioned much here so looking for input. Thanks
Hybrid power sport coax are $270 pair (all weather)
OR if I want to spend real money, which really I want to stick to drop in non-component speakers
Hybrid Audio U6 Mid Range 6.5 weather treated 100 watts-230 Watts 50Hz to 22 Khz 93.2 DB 4Ω
1 319.99 319.99
SPX-T Tweeter Grills for all years 98-current Kit includes 1" Tweeter cut into new hogtunes grills (Please use specific grills for year and model bike)
1 159.94 159.94
Any thoughts on these, $500 for component with new grills, or $270 for drop ins
HAT(Hybrid) is not efficient enough to work on a bike. Great speaker for a car and that's where they belong.
Get the mmats or consider the DB moto G2s. Mmats will be better sq and DB will be better volume(which is important on a RG). Then the weak link will be your BT amp.

Mmats not available for awhile, so how do the DB moto G2s compare, I like what I see in the spec's but they are a bit more spendy ?? Thanks again
Okay, trigger has been pulled. I like the spec's on sheet, going with WDX6MOTO-G2. Got to better than my current Polk 652 DB's.
NOTE TO SELF> No More $$$ for 2020 on RG sound system
How do you feel with the Sony HU? I went the other route, installed an NVX amp and the MMats first, and have been debating the HU now (Sony 5000 vs 7000).

Are there any controls you lost with the switch?
FOR ME, it ended up easy. But as my title states I feel I was at the bottom of the barrel sort of speak. 2nd I hated being always under the influence of worrying about the HD EQ and what the heck flash I would need. SO no more flash for me, LOL. Anyhow so I truly cannot compare the 5000 vs. the 7000. The wattage differences really had no meaning to me as everyone still should run some sort of amp in their setup up, that just makes sense. Anti-Glare, forget that only been out on 2 rides but glare is bad, that is just being honest, especially if your looking at GPS, however in that same thought Android Auto talks you though anyhow so seeing the scene clearly is a non issue FOR ME, plus riding, think about it should you be looking down or forward. Same with audio I know what I am using and know what song is playing so no big deal. Water res. who really knows, I already set up a garaged Eng. clear plexi glass for the OH NO moment when I hit rain. I really would not trust either but the 7000 may have a little leg up on this subject. Hand controls work great, just very sensitive, example turning volume up or down, just want a small little finger bump don't hold or your 5 to 40 in mil. seconds. again no big deal, just a minor learning curve.
