Well, that would sure suck. Kind of like us Canadians that buy bikes in the fall, and get stuck waiting all winter for the snow to melt. Glad to hear you are finally getting to pick it up. Ride safe.

You said 601.4 cx, there is a set of PA601cx in the classifieds, what is the difference?

Those are probably the same ones. Just make sure they are the 601.4cx The "4" stands for 4 ohm, the "cx" stands for coax.

There is also a PA601 which is just a mid-range, not a coax

OK, Fosgate TM 400-4AD in the garage, MMats ordered last night (out of stock, so they are $10 off), I am still planning on the Polks in the Tour Pack pods then ready to wire it up. I have been looking at the newer HUs from HK. Looks like my main plug still works, Hawg Wired makes a plug for the ultra port with rear speaker leads going out, it would have to be a great deal though to go that route.

I'm finally getting around to wiring this up, thanks for the recommendations. I got the Polk 652s installed in the tour pak pods, and wiring for the amp ran last weekend. I mounted the metra adapters and MMATS in the fairing last night. Now I just need enough time to tie it all into the amp. I am going to keep the stock HU for now, so speaker level inputs it is. Should I go ahead and convert them to RCAs now, in case I ever upgrade/ replace the amp, or just wire it straight up?

Shot you a message, hope you can make it up there. We can talk about audio and I have a couple of buddies with 4 speaker systems.

Got it all hooked up and have a couple of questions.
Is the amp tray necessary for the Fosgate amp? It is a tight fit, and would be a lot cleaner without it.

Is HP at 80 hertz the right place for my crossover? It's what RF recommend, but thought I would check here to see if I could go lower than 80.
Thanks
Jason

Shriner about that amp tray. The issue with that RF amp is it gets hot as a firecracker when you really crank the tunes. I mean HOT. The amp tray will act a s a heat sink when you bolt it down. If you can fit the tray in there I would go for it.

As far as crossovers go you can try it at 80 and see what you think, but one thing a lot of us have learned is if you go a little high on the crossover (say 100 Hz) you probably will not notice the difference in sound at 70 mph, but if you go too low and get crazy with the volume you can get distortion that can actually cause a loss in clarity. That RF amp does have a bit of distortion detection in that if it gets real bad it will shut itself off, but realistically with 6.5" speakers you aren't going to get much bass out of them anyhow, so if in doubt raise the LPF a bit and ride on.
