Default Infotainment Issues!

Hey all! It’s been awhile but I am finally back after 4 years and got a new bike! I know I haven’t talked to most of you in so long so I hope you all are well!

picked up a 2016 Street Glide Special and I am absolutely in love with it.

however, I am now having the dreaded Bluetooth issues.

a few weeks back my Bluetooth stopped working on me. I reset the infotainment system and the Bluetooth worked again....for about a week until it quit working again.

ive reset the infotainment system 10 times and have also pulled the fuses a handful of times and sometimes it will fix it for a day or two but then it goes back to not working again.

I have tried everything just short of taking it to the dealer since it’s out of warranty.

Is there anything else I could try? I do not want to pay an arm and a leg to pay the dealer.

thanks!

yones I have an older bike with the SaddleTramp bluetooth module and I have had similar issues that I have had to sort of learn to deal with. I use Android phones so I don't know if this would apply to Apple devices or not.

A lot of times all I have to do to get my phone to reconnect is just open the bluetooth screen and tap on the radio's bluetooth entry. If that doesn't work I may have to repair. If I find I have to repair a lot I've noticed that if I clear the bluetooth cache on my phone the situation will get much better for a good while.

Here's how to clear the bluetooth cache if you have an Android phone:

I haven't tried this but here is a link describing how to clear the bluetooth cache on an iPhone:

Here is an article on resetting the bluetooth on an iPhone:
How to Reset iPhone Bluetooth & Fix Bluetooth Issues

Hopefully something in those articles may get you going again. Bluetooth is a nice feature but I've seen lots of weird issues with it over the years. As you have mentioned every now and then I'll have to pull the main fuse to allow the bluetooth module to reset itself. Sometimes I notice I have to do that after I clear the cache. When I first pair the phone after clearing cache sometimes my bluetooth option will disappear in the head unit selection screen. After pulling the fuse for a few seconds and plugging it back in it works well for a long time.

Good luck.
