Default Lower speakers?

Presently have kappas in the fairing and Mmats 601.8 in lowers (bridge/parallel)
replacing the kappas with hertz, would I be better to put kappas in the lowers now And have 4 coaxials or leave the mmats where they are?
thanks for the incite!

Well it changes everything, Just saying should I put this speaker here or not is imopossible to predict. tHertz speakers can sound good but require alot of power, You still have not disclosed the model of Hertz you are considering. While your amp it is a buget beadt but the SQ dtops off when you push it to the edge, With your set up i would shy away from the hertz myself.

Thanks for the input. The hertz hcx are going in the fairing ,that’s decided. Others have ran them with that amp and been happy. The kappas have served me well just couldn’t decide whether to keep them and move them to lowers or not.

I ran the Kappas with that amp. You shou be able to blend them well as the Kappas will get louder than the Hertz, I take it you are looking for a softer sound than the Kapps provide. If that is the case I would try the Mmats bridged/ Parelell in the lowers,

I understood the hertz would play louder and warmer than the kappas. kappas can be bright.
the mmats bridged /parallel is how I’m running It now with about 112watts each. Thought if I moved the kappas to the lowers I’d get more volume and fuller range being that they are coaxial and would be in stereo. Maybe just need to try a few theories and see what I like best. Just don’t like having to go under the hood that many times and the lower speaker aren’t that easy to access due to the design of the speaker grill. (Friction fit-have to be carefully pryed off.
thanks again for your Thoughts, appreciate it.

I guess it depends on music type and where you ride. I have had the fairing off so many times it only takes 10 to get it off and on. Getting rid of the Torx and using allens on the inner was a nice upgrade. Dont put the lower grills on until you are sure which ones you want. I wouldnt be worried about stereo from the lowers or tour pak.

I like the look of those grills you have Weeboy. It's a shame they are a pain to work with. I went with some Chinese CVO knock off grills on my lowers. They don't look all that great but they function good and are easy to work with. I prefer the look of the factory Harley CVO grills but they are crazy expensive. I got those knock offs for less than $20 shipped and screws were included.

Not sure exactly how you plan to have everything all wired up, and if you have any other speakers connected to that amp at the moment, but you will have to consider your wiring strategy when swapping from the 8ohm Mmats in the lowers to the 2ohm Kappas. Obviously they can both be configured to achieve a 4 ohm load, but I would think your wiring strategy would play a large factor in getting the most out of your speaker choices with 2ohm, 4ohm, and 8ohm speakers in play. It does complicate an otherwise easy swap if they were all 4ohm speakers, each off their own channel.
My thoughts....the Mmats are already in the lowers.
Toss in the Hertz and give it a go from there for a couple days to get a feel for the set up, providing your wiring strategy allows.
Then give the Kappas a try for a couple days.
A little more time consuming, but it will help you get your best result. You'll probably know right away after installing the Kappas if it's am improvement over the Mmats or not.
I will also toss in an observation. I often see people mention that the Kappas sound bright, something I never noticed. As a matter of fact I felt mine sounded great when I had them. They had a nice full sound.
I have also noticed that others have found the DB Moto WDX6 G2s to be ear bleeding bright. Something I also noticed upon initial installation, until I managed to get the variable x-over properly set, which led to more mid-range to blend with, and tone down the highs.
