I've typically used JL Audio for the all the trucks and cars I've owned over the years and I trust the brand. from basic systems to $15K+ systems.
My 18 Road Glide Ultra still has the stock sound system (added WHIM though awhile ago). Considering tackling the sound system. Nothing overly crazy as I don't listen to it super loud on the road anyways. But with the Stage III, V&H header pipes, Power Vision tune and Rinehart DBX 45 I have to really crank it to even hear anything, and it isn't all that great as expected.
So could someone recommend JL audio amps and fairing speakers (and any necessary peripherals). Just need rough names and I can look up part numbers and such. Would love to also hear thoughts on sound quality. I primarily listen to rock and country when on the bike. I leave the bass heavy tunes for the truck (have a 10w7 and other JL/Focal goodies in the Ram).
Also plan to install myself so let me know if any issues (e.g., amp installation).
JL makes great speakers..... for cars and trucks, not bikes. I have replaced 6 different JL systems on bikes since February because people aren't happy with them. Just aren't loud enough for bikes.
The MX 280/4 is a great amp bridged for some 2 speaker/fairing only speakers. A 280/4 and set of Mmats PA601cx's are a great budget, drop in combo. All comes down to budget and 2/4/6 speaker systems.
If your stuck on JL speakers, I have a couple C650 sets for sale now!

Thanks for the suggestion. I did find it odd that I didn't see a lot of JL audio mentioned in Harley sound systems, as JL is pretty high end for cars, trucks and boats. I'll keep this in mind as I research.

You find guys using their amps, DSP and M880 lid speakers. That's really about it for the bike world, which is a completely different animal.
