I'm trying to get all my ducks in a row for my next upgrade, and was just reading the manual and SD suggests a minimum of 5 AWG power wire. Not seeing much in the way of 5 AWG, but is AWG the same as Gauge? And, in the absence of 5 AWG or Gauge, seems I would have to round up to 4 Gauge? Just seems awful thick for a 5 foot run? Just wondering what others are using for this kind of wattage. Lastly, is there a preferred source that carries the wire, inline fuses (60A), Lugs and Ferrules? TIA!!
AWG stands for American Wire Gauge, I can't help with your other audio question, I'm just here to learn myself. I've found some good stuff on other social media for motorcycle audio as well
Flinch - Thanks I knew what AWG stood for. Just seemed odd that SD would spec a 5-AWG Size that's not very common. I'm even finding 6 Gauge hard to find.
Teed - Thanks, I'm currently running 8 Gauge with a 40A for my 800.4 so that's good news.

On my 1200.4, I went from 8G cheap wire to 4G OFC, and my bridged undistorted watts went up significantly. 4G is probably a little overkill. But so is most my system, lol. I'd rather have too much than not enough. I order all my supplies from Amazon.
Good point cshocker. I alluded to 8Ga at 6.5 feet, but you have to make sure the wire is high quality to get the proper results. Extra isnt going to hurt anything except your pocket book, and space.

Thanks - I was looking for OFC but can only see it at 4 and 8 Gauge. Can't find a single mention of 6 Gauge on Amazon anywhere, which I think would be a good compromise. Plus most of the stuff seems to be Chinese and I think part of the concern is, are you really getting what they advertise? Any reliable vendors?
