I have the Boom! Box GTS infotainment system w/ the H-D Boom! 30K headsets. Getting CarPlay started seems to be hit or miss. I always seem to have to unplug/plugin my phone, turn off/on headsets multiple times before getting CarPlay to come up. I'm trying to find the proper startup sequence to get CarPlay to come up on the first try but I'm failing. Is this just how it is?
Radio is updated to the latest firmware (MY21.20.28.00). I'm using actual Apple lightning cable and have tried a different cable as well. I've tried turning on the headsets before and after starting the bike. Same thing for plugging in the phone, before and after starting. I also notice sometimes the headset on the radio shows a bluetooth symbol when connected and sometimes it does not. Either way the headsets work but it seems CarPlay only comes up if the bluetooth symbol comes up. Anyone have any tips here? I want to use CarPlay but it's currently such a hassle to get it started. Thanks!
I have similar issues with AA. I have to wait till the initial warning screen is gone by pressing the thumb control to accept before plugging my phone in.
Couple weeks ago, after not riding my bike for a month or so, I couldn't get AA to connect at all, so someone here suggested I unistall and reinstall AA on my phone, which worked.
Might want to try that and see it it fixes your issues.

Thanks for the response. Apple CarPlay is built into my phone though. I dont think I can uninstall and reinstall it. I could be wrong though.
If there is a better way then this, I haven't found it yet, but this is what works for me... Start the bike, Turn on headset (if not already) and wait for the "boom audio connected" unlock the phone, plug in the cable. If I plug in the phone while the ignition is on, car play comes up. Start the bike, It goes away and I have to unplug the phone and plug it in again.

Thanks! I found starting the bike made it go away too. I'm almost doing the same thing as you except I didn't unlock the phone. I will try that. I appreciate the response.
