I screwed up. I purchased the map update for my 2014 FLHTK Boom Box system. Instead of buying it in the toolbox I bought it on the website and then went to the toolbox. The update didn't show up in the toolbox and I couldn't figure out why. After going back and forth between the toolbox and website, I noticed on the website that there were 2 systems listed under my login. After looking more I saw that the serial numbers are different. Then it came to me what I did. I didn't think about my stock head unit being replaced under warranty. The dealer sent my original one back to HD and they replaced it with a rebuilt one so the serial numbers are different. I'll have to call tomorrow and see if they'll straighten it out for me. I sure hope so. I don't want to be out $150 for nothing.
I know there are those of you who don't use the gps and that's fine. That's your prerogative. I use it and that's why I was updating the maps from the original maps from 2014.
I called HD and started a support ticket. They were going to forward that to tech support. I haven't heard back from them yet. I'm on duty on the ambulance for 48 hrs so I won't be able to call them until Friday. If I don't find out anything then I'm going to dispute the charge on my credit card and buy it again for the correct head unit.
I think if you approach them with calm rationale theyd be inclined to help you out. Thats an easy error Id hope theyd be understanding.
I did approach them very calm when I called. I told the lady that I screwed up. I responded to her email with the information she requested. I've emailed her back twice now asking for an update but haven't heard anything back from her.
I got a call this morning from HD saying they transferred my map update to the new radio. Unfortunately I'm at work till tomorrow morning and don't even have my computer with me to download it. I'll work on that tomorrow, I guess.
