Apple CarPlay on SGS
Is it possible to get Apple CarPlay on a SGS? I've seen a couple of video's where you need to rip apart the fairing and install a chip of some sort, but was wondering if there is another way? I would like to be able to get notification of text message which I can't as it only allows for SMS messaging. Even with that, yesterday I got an SMS message from a buddy and didn't get it until I got off the bike. My whole family has iPhones so I can't get text while riding (I know not the safest thing but would like to know if my daughter is trying to get a hold of me if I'm riding).

All you have to do is have the dealer hook up digital tech and click the box for the whim. Previous models would not let them if no whim was installed. 2019 GTS boom box will. I have a 2019 SGS as well. By doing this you will have full functionality of CarPlay your phone will ring text will come through. The only thing you cant do is talk back. For example my phone rings through the boom box I then answer it on my phone hit the speaker button on my phone and talk through there my phone is mounted on a perch mount. Kinda a pain but its cheaper than a whim my dealer flashed it for free. Ill answer and say hold on Im on the bike and cant hear you then pull over to have my conversation. The phone does have to be connected through the USB port in the cubby to get CarPlay though. All other parts of the phone work. Maps. Google maps. Waze. Music. Spotify. Etc. search my posts to see what I posted I cant now. Hope that helps.

ill assume your SGS is a 19 or newer with the GTS radio, you can add a jumper to the pigtail the WHIM plugs into fooling it into thinking you have a headset, carplay will work without any of the voice stuff.
