Looking to add speakers to my 14 ultra limited. It looks like my options for the pods are either hogtunez or metra. I want to install my prvs in that location, which pods will be best?
I went from Soundz adapters to the Metra last week. I hated the look of Soundz, at the time it was the only ballgame. The Metras look way better. They're not a "perfect" fit, but fit the bill.
I've used the ones from Hogtunes over a year ago and they worked fine, but look like the Metra and the Metra are cheaper. With some tweaking I got some Euphoria EX6NCD's in them, but very tight fit even with a 1/2" spacer..
I like my Hogtunes with a 1/2 in spacer and Hertz SPL 165. Initially, I was worried they might look fugly but they aren't too bad looking IMO. The gloss black color is almost a perfect match for the Harley Vivid Black lowers so no repaint required.
Here are some shots of my Hogtunes pods. I made sure to include one shot in full sunlight (the last one) so you can see it's not a 100% perfect color match to the Harley Vivid Black. But it's close enough that in most light it's not at all noticeable. As I said I was initially concerned these pods would be too big and fugly but once on the bike I think they look great. Very glad I got them.
Thanks for the pictures and video, the hog tunes definitely look nice. In curious to compare them to the metra adapters. I want to know if the hogtunes are worth the couple extra bucks or if the metras look similar

I wouldn't be surprised if they came out of the same mold.
Correction on my 1st post in this thread. I don’t have a spacer on my pods at all. I thought I did but turned out not to be the case as I found out when changing the coolant today. I’m not sure what the depth of those Hertz SPL SV 165 are but they seem to fit just fine. Well maybe just fits (as it looked like there is a slight indentation in the overflow tube between the fill neck and overflow tank possibly caused by the magnet).
