2017 HD Street Glide Special Sound Upgrade options from the experts
What's going on boys. This is my first thread on the HD Forum. I did a quick search on the Audio Forum for information, scrolled through a couple pages of results and couldn't find what I'm looking for.
Simply put, I'm deployed to AFG and wanted to use some of the money when I get home to change out the stock speakers on my 2017 Street Glide Special.
I have been looking at the HogTunes 225w 6.5 inch Front Speaker Kit on Titan Customs for about $425.00.
Or the Kicker 5.25" Fairing Speaker & Amplifier System on Titan Customs for about $535.00 (this one seems weird, more expensive for a smaller speaker)
I can't seem to really find anything else that's in that price range. I really just want to change the speakers in the front, and eventually add speakers to the saddle bag lids down the road.
Can any of you boys recommend an alternate or speak to the performance of the kits I mentioned above? Not much on Youtube in reference to that specific set up and hardly anyone has provided feedback on Amazon.

First thank you for your service! Now for your audio on the bike. Changing just the speakers will not gain you any satisfaction unless you add an amp. There are several different ways to go but an amp is imperative especially if adding speaker lids later. The best bang for the buck right now is GZCF 6.5PL coax or mmats pa601cx. Both are full range with great SQ. You will need a good 4 channel amp as the stinger spx 700.4, mmats 4110 or SD 800.4 4 ohm are all solid amps. Also you will need to get your boom HU flashed to the RF flash or 8/2 flash to provide a proper signal to your setup. This reduces the harsh eq curve that the stock boom has to enhance the sound for boom speakers. Now this will cost you a bit more than $500 that you targeted but I suggest doing it right the first time and be done with it. Hope this helps and gets you started on the right path.

Thank you very much - the kits I mentioned above come with 200W amps I believe. But from what I read your recommendation is to piece it together, and not purchase a all encompassing kit?

That is correct. For a few extra dollars you will have setup that blows the others you have mentioned out of the water.
Agreed. When you return, and get ready to buy, please check back. Things change pretty quickly so there very well might be the next gen kings of the hill by then.
