New 2013 Street Glide Audio Question
1. My stock speakers dont sound so good. I would only consider upgrading the fairing set. Suggestions please?
2. Ipod connector -is this something that is easy to do? Meaning, getting behind the fairing for a direct connection vs using the aux cord.
I appreciate the help and consideration from the experienced users.
PS -loving the bike. Just upgraded my deluxe to a black street glide.
No Ipods in the house so I've not looked into those accessories. But the install pdf doesn't look too hard.

I highly recommend canning those stock 5 1/4" fairing speakers and replacing them with Biketronics 7.1" Titan II 100 watt speakers. 7.1 inches of awesomeness!! They even come with the speaker adapter rings!
You can go several different directions on the amplifier. Many on this forum are using Rockford Fosgate or Soundstream amplifiers, relatively inexpensive and effective. I read here that the Soundstream amp can interfere with radio reception though. My only issue with these amps is the fact that they are not designed for the vibration and harsh conditions of being mounted on a motorcycle. I'm not sure but I highly doubt they would be covered under warranty under these circumstances.
I've also read several threads on this forum relating to blown speakers, specifically the Polk's. I think it may have a lot to do with improper amplifier settings......too much gain.
That is why I decided to just fork over the dough and install the Biketronics 2180 two channel 180 watt amp. Automatic gain control. No blown speakers. Maybe eardrums though!! It's twice the money of the other two mentioned but is designed specifically for a motorcycle. The proof is in the lifetime warranty on the speakers and amplifier. Won't need to spend it AGAIN!
Nice and loud, clear with absolutely no high frequency hum or distortion.
It's nice to have all the controls of the amplifier so you can fine tune your system.......but this IS a motorcycle we're talking about here. JMHO

DO get the Biketronics BT7P1 speakers. They are the best in the game for this application IMHO. They are a little more pricey than some of the good 6.5" speakers, but after you buy the faring mounting ring adapters for 6.5" speakers you'll find that the price difference is negligible. Add on to that the Biketronics lifetime warranty and their OUTSTANDING customer service and support, and it worth MORE that what you pay.
As for the amp, you can drive those speakers with more than enough power with the Rockford Fostagte PBR 300x2. It can be had for a steal on amazon for around $130 new. If you want to spend the extra coin on the Biketronics 2180, I can tell you that you won't be disappointed in the least. Its a KILLER amp and takes a lot of the guesswork out of the less audio inclined as in you don't have to adjust the gains. And again you get the backing of Biketronics lifetime warranty.
And don't be intimidated by the pending install if you haven't done it before. It's very easy and I, as well as many other will be happy to help you along the way. Also check out the stickies at the top of the audio forum (where this thread will undoubtedly be moved) for install instructions.
