Gday guys, im only real new to all this stereo stuff so i thought this would be the place to ask..im in Australia so we prob dont get all the stuff you have over there, i just got myself an 18 Road Glide Special and updated the speakers with Kicker CSC65 speakers..I know they arent the best but they sound good to me and now im wanting to add an amp to it, im going to run 6.5" pods on the rear box as well and im wanting the unit to make things louder when im riding and thats it, so i can sing to my hearts content while riding....so yeah im on a tight budget to do this and im going to do it myself..any help would be gretly appreciated..
What is tight? If to tight you would be better off to save some money, and do it right the first time. Spend once , cry once! Sh"t gets expensive fast.
I have a 2012 FLHX StreetGlide, the sound system is weak at best. I'm not into big budget music on my motorcycle, and I don't want to waste storage space in my saddle bags by installing Amps and Sub-woofers in there, but I wanted to upgrade my two Fairing speakers and add an amp. I just finished installing two 6.5" Kicker Co-axial speakers and the Jensen XDA92RB amp in my front Fairing. I'm, very pleased with the added Bass and overall sound quality.
Jensen currently makes three different budget friendly amps that are pretty good. The XDA91RB mono amp, the XDA92RB 2 channel amp, and the XDA94RB 4 channel amp.
Here is a link to a good in-depth review of the 2 channel amp.
thanks muchly mate, thats exactly what im after, just be a bit louder when riding thats it..thanks for the help..
Be sure to buy adapters and upgrade to 6.5" speakers. With the Jensen XDA92RB amplifier you will need speakers rated for a minimum of 80 watts RMS and below. Otherwise the speakers will not perform at their best.

did you have to get a special mount for it to go in the fairing and did you have to do that reflash thing theyre talking about...
I see, you already have the 6.5" speakers, The Amp (XDA92RB) I installed is smaller than the factory Radio. So, I was able to simply Velcro it on top of the radio. My bike is a 2012, no re-flash necessary.
Oh, I misspoke earlier, The minimum rated RMS wattage of the Speakers should match the rated RMS output of the amp. Also, it's best to match the Ohms impedance of the speakers to the amp.

On a sled with all of the open air noise challenges, I would personally recommend an amp that can provide up to 1.5.x RMS to 1.75 RMS if possible. Just a non scientific rule of thumb that will provide some headroom if needed.
