I don't know Jack..... I'm pretty happy with my GTS. It's addressed everything i didn't like about my 6.5 GT
This is true, do you think the mother ship did this out of fear of what the after markets companies would bring? They only care about warranty claims and market share.

I was going to pick up a used 6.5 GT to replace my 4.3 after mulling over aftermarket options and ruling them out.
Then I saw places on FB saying to order early on this new Soundstream radio , looks cool , then I come to find out I have to buy a additional SWC module for my controls to work and it doesn't have independent GPS , it requires a cell phone to use with either Apple CarPlay or Android Auto to have GPS.
Pricey but the GTS is looking better all the time , especially after checking one out at the dealership on a bike.

Handle bar controls are easy. Waze and Google maps is far superior to the built in Harley GPS.

I don't know why the "hate" on for the HD GPS? Maybe cause I'm old (north of 60) but it does everything for me that I need it to. Got me hooked up with CarPlay and have tried Google Maps, Maps, Waze, etc...not really a fan.
Plus it's integrated and everything just works the way it's supposed to with the GTS. Stuff like if the fuel level gets low...it asks me if I'd like to find a gas station and shows me closest ones. Sure there's a few hiccups, but most things have them.
All my handlebar controls work as intended, I can check all kinds of engine & bike info (oil, tire pressure, air temp, etc) on the fly. Plus, best of all...it's fully & completely waterproof! Can't see myself ever swapping it out for aftermarket.
This is my experience. But hey...do what makes you happy and enjoy the ride.

It seems waze is having some issues with the latest update , my biggest issue with all the aftermarket offerings is seeing the display in sunlight , slow responding handlebar controls , and durability . I've been using a Garmin for years , I like google maps better but if I can't see them worth a crap when I need too , like my Garmin , then it isn't worth much to me.

I have never found an on board GPS to be better then Google maps. First the maps are outdated fast, commands suck, and the general way to use them is confusing. Not just HD, but all car systems. They are good for a backup though. Google maps are current, easy to understand normal commands and can even answer general questions hands free. It has faults but it is far superior to onboard gps.

The feature that I like with G. Maps is real time traffic. We were traveling north on I-5 and a prompt to get off at the next exit. We did and followed it back on the freeway where a semi had rolled and blocked all lanes and the shoulder. I bet that back up was hours waiting for a wrecker to clear the road.

All these are valid points...and thats whats great about the new GTS. The GTS is a great radio that gives you android auto and apple carplay AND still has a great native nav system built in as well.
I use google maps for long trips for the real time traffic feature. But as mentioned I like the harley nav for other things like dealer locators and such.
I for one woud not trade my GTS for any current aftermarket HU. Until one comes out that is proven as water resistant as the GTS AND has complete hand control functionality, I'm sticking with this one.
