Gzcf 6.5 spl
lower the volume speakers sound good.
was reading about problems between GZ and SD amp...reached out to both companies and both have heard of the problem...but seem to blame one another.
now i have been reading that some have had to cut the coil of the terminal for the problem to be rectified. GZ rep said he also has heard some cutting the coil but wouldn't recommend it as it would change the crossover to 6db which is not good for the speakers.
Now here's what i tried..i took out the SD amp installed a BT4180 from Biketronics and no cutting out even at 3/4 volume and alot less heat compared to the SD.
so what gives ?
Also running a dsr1 for speaker adjustment.
With the gains turned at lowest point speakers will still cut out when volume raised.
but what bawhat baffles me is when i disconnected the 800.4 amp and installed the BT4180 with just the 2 front speakers i can raise the volume with no distortion, crystal clear sound and no cutting out.
i reached out to SD and to GZ reps and they are aware of the same problem others like myself have..of course 1 blames the other..but also it is of rare occurrence.
so why the difference in what's happening.
i talked to Mike at Biketronics and he said i could run all 4 of the GZ in parallel with his amp.
So i tried it, and its amazing and sounds awesome.
So BT amp with no adjustments on their amp and hooked up to the dsp..no problem
SD amp another whole ball game

but that still hasn't solved the problem of the cutting out with the GZ/SD running together

While the issues with SD EVOX amps is definitely an issue, I don't think that's what's going on with the 800 and your GZ's. The SD amp issues for the most part have been that the output side of amp either works or it doesn't.
Speakers cutting out at high volume point to setup issues. Not knowing too much about your setup, things to consider are:
1. What head unit are you using? What's it's distortion point on volume?
2. What voltage did you set gains at on 800?
3. What are crossovers on the RF DSP for the GZ?
Again, not saying equipment isn't having issues, but before anything, you need to look at setup on everything as that's typically the reason we have issues.

I think I'm gonna sell the 2 SD800.4 @ a loss and buy another BT amp and still use the BT418p.
i love the speakers and they do sound great with the BT amp.

Have the gain set at minimal
have the crossovers set at 80hz thru the dsp with 12db/oct...recommended setting for GZ
