I know asking about sound is like asking about what oil, what kind of seat…and what suspension is best. But here goes anyways.
2019 Limited here’s my ask.
New speakers and an amp that works plug and play, no extra flash needed with my stock head end GTS.
I have zero issue taking apart the fairing, removing the tank, running wires, etc. I actually prefer to do wiring on my own as I’m pretty **** about cable management.
I’m looking for 25 to 30% better sound, clarity and depth than what stock has to offer. I’m budgeting about 1K.
I’m not looking for lower speakers or lid speakers, just replace the 4 I currently have.
Mixed reviews on so many different manufacturers here. I’m not going 1500 or so into it for the Fosgate HD system, only to have to have it flashed, etc.
4 speakers, amp, plug and play…and I do the install. 1K ish is my budget.
Suggestions?
If this makes a difference, 90% of what I listen to is streamed via Car Play from my phone and I use Tidal as my primary music source, nearly lossless audio.
If you are not going to flash the HU, then you are really reducing your options, any aftermarket will require a flash to keep from destroying the amp ....unless a dsp is in play
Ok, my shortsightedness…. Let me rephrase.
I’m ok with flashing the head end if it will allow for aftermarket amps. I simply don’t want to go the HD route, as I don’t think Boom or RF are as good of a bang for the buck as others.
So, this is my ignorance here. Are you saying the head end needs to be flashed even for an aftermarket amp and speakers to work properly?
I’ve looked at a 4 speaker system from Hogtunes. I’ve looked at Rokker as well.
I thought flashing the head end was only for HD branded solutions. Again, my ignorance here…
So..another question. I read a write up on a Stage 2 RF install on both a batwing and RG…each of which used two amps (I’d only need one for 4 speakers).
Since there is an RF app for android and apple, is head end flashing still required if I go the RF HD route with their amp, speakers and wiring?
Dont blow the money on RF, its mediocre at best in bang for the buck department. So many other options out there for the same or less money that are going to blow RF/H-D stuff away in volume and clarity.
