Default Sony 7000 - constant rebooting

On the way to work the other morning my Sony 7000 started skipping itself through songs on Spotify, then cranked the volume all the way up. Now it is in a constant cycle of rebooting. Gets to the home screen for about two seconds then reboots. No opportunity to fiddle with the unit settings or volume.

Amp never shows power. Likely not getting turned on from stereo.

I purchased a couple years ago from Fathead with the integrated harness.

Any ideas?

Sony thru Fathead comes with a multi-year warranty. Have you called them?

sounds like water ingress IMHO has it got wet lately?

mine suffered with similar symptoms (pre wrap) whenever it had taken on alot of water due to a heavy downpour

Got a bike dryer or air line?
plenty into the open holes to the rear (behind the wing) and my hunch was always it was getting in the buttons on the screen (they are well sealed but water def gets behind the glass/interface area around them)

I'd usually do this and give it 48hours of being totally off, before trying again and resetting the modules.

....Fat Head will warranty, but if you do regain control then wrap ASAP

Mine just started doing strange things, it has been over a week since it got wet at all, (and I didn’t think it was much,I’d been in worse with no issues). Was thinking about doing a reset, then checking into updates. If no change, will be looking at a marine replacement with Car Play, if there is such a thing.

Question- what do you mean by “wrap it”? Was going to built a diverted shield of some sort, but would be interested in what others have done.

BTW, Fat Heads doesn’t answer the phone, has no provision for voicemail, and selecting Operator throws you back into nowhereland. Disappointing.

"Wrapping means to cover the radio vents with some type of waterproof material so water can't enter the radio. There are some pre-built kits or you can do it yourself. I believe NVSAudio has a pretty good tutorial and there are also other threads on here that detail/demonstrate. Of course the radio will probably need to be removed in order for you to wrap it properly.

If wrapping isn't your thing or you don't want to remove the radio you can pick up a shroud that basically goes over the entire top of the fairing, protecting the radio and all the other components underneath. That's the route I took. Seems like it will work but haven't had an opportunity to test in combat so to speak. The place is 309 Custom Audio - there's a link here (1) 309 Custom Audio | Facebook. Typing in Shroud into the search box will get you where you need to be.

Thank you. I did find another thread that had a video of a kit installation that gave me some great ideas. I was surprised that it could be closed off and heat wouldn’t be an issue.

I did get mine from Fat Heads, supposedly easy to install, so hoping that watching those videos will let me take it out and reinstall.

Thanks for answering dumb questions from the tech challenged.

not dumb IMHO. You don't learn if you don't ask...

While the Biketronics wrap kit gives a better front facing look (you are paying for it after all). The low budget draw-lining wrap, plus 309 shroud, plus Roadies Splash Cover, I'm running is working well under British weather testing

I've not had any issues with weird functions or restarts or crazy volume buttons in ALL weathers since doing it.

Also endured a few super hot days shortly after wrapping and no issues. When you come to do it you will realise that the Fathead decal is in fact covering alot of the upper vents already (and I left that on and wrapped over it)

any pointers, just ask
