Default Blown Tweeter ??????

How can you tell if your tweeters are blown? I have a set of PRV 450 tweeters in my fairing, and they started making rattling/crackling noise on my way back from a 6 hour trip. The noise isn't as bad when the bike is not running with the music playing, but when I'm riding you can definitely hear the distortion. They are connected to a SD 250.2D amp and I have a RF DSR1. What should I check first or what's a good starting point? Can you blow the small yellow filter cap (not sure what they are called) that connect to the tweeters? Could it be the amp???
Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Brian

How many watts did you have going to them? Where did you place the filter?
Might be blown, might be lose connection.

I believe they are installed on the positive side. They were installed a little over a year ago and I had no problems with them at all. The sound digital amp is only 125 w per channel. I never play it too loud. Maybe 23-25 on Sony Axv ax 100 head unit. When I first had the system turned I could turn it up to 40 out of 50 without any distortion, but I never turn it up that loud.
