Howdy all. So I have 2 amps running my current set up but I am thinking about making a change. I have an 800.4 Soundigital running 2 hertz spl 6.5s wired parallel with a set of diamond horns up front on channels 1&2. The same amp powers my hertz spl 690s in the lids. I also have a Soundigital 250.2 powering a set of titan II 6.5s in my detachable tour pak. I have the remote wire toggled for now to the tour pak amp. My thought is this...I have a like new biketronics bt4180 amp just sitting around. I was thinking about switching out the 250x2 for the bt4180 and running the 690s and tour pak off of it. But then I would have to have that amp live all the time. Would this cause any problems when the tour pak is off? With 2 of the channels being basically dead when tourpak is off.
also if anyone has a better way of arranging these I'm all ears. Just trying to get as much power to everything as possible with what I have. Also I'm using the aftermarket head units built in dsp for tuning.
other than having the spare BT4180 kicking around are there other issues you are trying to solve? What HU are you running?
I had another thread about my 6x9s not producing as loud but a few others commented and i was advised to feed them more power so this may be the fix for that. They sound good but according to everyone those hertz spl 690s are supposed to be incredible especially in comparison to the R fosgates that they replaced. HU is an Alpine Ine-w967hd.
Any of the channels with no out put will not be happy for long. All channels have their own switching amplifier and all channels need a load, unless bridged where 1&2 become 1 channel. The load helps the amp from building to much voltage and creating the magic white smoke.

gotcha. Damn. Ok thanks. Ill just leave it alone for now then..

Intreresting HU choice. Not to hijack the thread but tell us a little about it. What bike do you have it in? How is the fit? Screen glare? Any weatherproofing done to it? etc.

Sure. I bought it from Biketronics. Its a really nice system. Built in Nav, Bluetooth, with all the new infotainment stuff. Biketronics weather proofed it with a protective chassis. Glare on the road glide seems to be an issue in the right conditions no matter what. Its got a very good parametric 9 band eq for the front and rear independently controlled. Works with my handlebar controls too. I can turn the volume all the way to max with 0 square waves.
