Default Mmatts in lowers

Im planning on doing a Mmatts system. The 601.cx in the fairing and 690.4cx in the bag lids. Two 4110 to push. My question is which 6.5 should I do in the lowers. The 601.cx or 601. I spoke to someone at mmatts and he said either is a good choice but the 601.cx with the tweeter might be a little high overkill. Im thinking the 601 will add a little more midbass and round out tge overall sound. Im fairly new to audio so any input would be appreciated. Also should I consider getting a dsp?

A DSP isn't mandatory but also not a bad idea when you're using 2 amps and 6 speakers. You'd really be able to dial everything in (once you get past the learning curve).

I used different speakers in my case but I also went midbass in the lowers and left the tweeters to the fairings. I'd tend to listen to the advice from MMats.

If you plan to use the 601 in the lowers, I could consider a DSP to be mandatory. That speaker sounds good but it doesn’t have a good nature roll off up top. If you’re gonna feed it the power it needs to be heard in the lowers going down the highway it’s going to sound crappy in the upper frequencies.

I would still run it, I would just run it with a DSP and cross it from 120-4K or so and pour some power to it til it matches the presence of the 601cx’s in the dash.

I’ve ran that setup in a Jeep Wrangler with an 800.4 and a DSP. The midrange were in the roll bar and the coaxials were in the dash.

It was a good sounding setup with a 10” sub in the back.

I personally prefer to use mid bass speakers in the fairing and the coaxial in the lowers if running a set up like you described. Just bc of the fact that the coaxials will usually be a bit more efficient and the distance between the two locations would place the coaxials a little farther away therefore balancing out things a bit better. But that’s just my opinion take it for what it’s worth lol

I currently run the Mmats coax in the fairing, and the DB Moto G2'S in the lowers. The high efficiency of the G2's works well out of the lowers for helping with balancing out the volume. I have tried both the Mmats coax and the G2's in the lowers and find the tweeter on the G2 disperses a little better from the lowers than the tweeter on the Mmats. With the lowers being off axis with your ears, you will find the sound from the tweeter on the Mmats will be down around your shoulders, you will hear the highs but if you crouch a little you will here the tweeter to come into alignment. With the DB Moto G2'S,. the highs will disperse from the lowers better, and be more on axis. As for the Mmats mids, I haven't tried them out yet.

Sorry to butt in! Being a canuck were you able to source either the DB or Mmats here in Canada? Looking for either or both. Feel free to pm me so I don’t further muddy the op’s post.
thanks Bman.
