I'm not necessarily saying they are adjusting themselves, but I've noticed once they are originally set to proper target voltage and I go back an hour later with my DMM and re-check the voltage for the hell of it they are not where I originally set them? So tell me that?

Volume on source can be lower or higher. Battery weaker. Better or weaker connection with the probes.

Nope I always double check my settings and volume on the phone, The battery is always on the tender or I start the bike, and I make sure the probes are secured tightly.

So how much do you see in the voltage drop or gain?
Always use the best source for playing the test tones. I used a thumb drive,
SO the volt inconsistency for me wasn't about volume changing or sources being different each time. An honestly not sure i even understood why this was happening. ADenton got me straightened out though. And for me, my issue was, or at least what helped, was turning the gain pots all the way open on the loc I I'm using. He basically explained it like the HU is a water source. The loc is like a faucet. In my set up, my faucet was restricting my water flow from the HU to the amp. So opening the faucet all the way let the HU's output flow through at max capacity.
Then because of that, to reach my target volts for my speakers, I didnt need to even crack the amp gains at all to reach my 48v.
Bad, not saying you should add a loc at all. I dont know. Maybe someone with more experience can chime in as many ppl run speaker level inputs with no issues.

Maybe he's getting fluctuations because he's running it with Bluetooth and not a wired connection.... but if he's got it to the point where is loud and sounds good just ride and enjoy.

I'd love to be able use my USB thumb drive with the test tones on it as that's what I normally use on any install I've done in the past, but the problem is.....is this is on a 21' Road King and I have no way to connect one into the system unless there's a way that I'm not aware of?
I can tell you that my gains were always consistent so it wasn't the case of overpowering with my GZ's. Be aware that you set your volts with your volume at three-quarters so you do not want to go past three quarter volume. I would have put the phone on full volume as long as there's no distortion to set the gains knowing that when you get the full your still safe. And it's always better to set your gains with the bike running or at minimum with a fully charged battery
Wondering about this...would connecting a trickle charger the night before tuning and leaving the charger on during tuning be the same effective way as if the bike was running? I only ask because it would sure be easier to tune in the garage without the bike on...but of course we want full V during tuning.

I keep my trickle charger plugged in and the bike in aux while tuning.
