Totally agree about not getting caught up in watts. I have a a total of 1600 available to me on my bike but I am using 250 for the coax in my fairing and 100 for the speakers in the lowers.

I was looking in to amps with DSPs built in but the truth of my situation is that I change things about once a season if not every other. So replacing an amp with a built in dsp would mean losing my settings. I have a stand alone DSP and then two amps set up how I need them.

That said I am already waiting for the new Red Basket Coax to come out Q2 of this year. Those will require more power to play but I think I have enough thus far.

OP - Please do post pictures and videos of the sound afterwards. I am also interested in how you set up the DSP for your setup.

Unfortunately, I’m not doing install this time, I just don’t have the time to get it done when I need it to be. Local shop in Racine is doing it for a couple hundred bucks. I’ll ask for some picks of the install and I’ll get a video posted. Install is set for 4/7, as long parts get in. Seems like Cicada’s website is down, can’t check inventory status.

This setup is LOUD! It sounded really good till about 1/2 volume, and then it was really bright. I didn’t get into the DSP settings, but turned the treble down on the stereo and that helped. I was able to get to about 2/3-3/4 volume without making my ears hurt from the highs by backing the treble off a few bars on the stereo. I would think getting into the DSP could only help more. Not a ton of bass, but it’s there. Again, maybe the DSP can bring some more out?

On the freeway, full face helmet and I could hear the music clearly at 70mph at about 1/2 volume. I listen mainly to rock and some country and it was great. Off freeway, I was down to about 4 bars and it was clear, loud and sounding great. In driveway, cranked it full and it was loud enough (and still pretty clear) to be too loud, almost annoyingly loud. It is a night and day difference in sound quality and volume. I can’t say for certain this is the best setup out there, but if you want loud and clear (and currently a bit on the bright side), this is a setup to consider!

Installer, Sound Decisions out of Racine, WI did the work, and I am pretty happy with the quality of work so far. I was told that the system was set-up based on Cicada’s recommended settings for what I had put in (CH65.4 speakers and the DSP150.4D bridged at 4ohms). I was told I can come in and they can tweak settings for me, to get the sound how I want it. I am hoping that I can learn enough to use the DSP myself to adjust the sound.

I will post some video with sound tomorrow

I wish they took more photos, but this is what I got. I may need to pull the fairing off to get the Bluetooth connection going, I’m hoping it can be done without that. If I do,I’ll snap some more. I’ll post screen shots of the DSP settings they started with, if possible.

Great thread, I appreciate eaglefan1 suggesting this audio section.

I am pretty stupid when it comes to systems. It is becoming clear that there are many good brands out there. Most like Cicada that I have never heard of.

I will say the details on their website are exceptional and I have learned a few things just from reviewing.

One question I have is regarding Fade and NoFade. I assume that means the fade from from to back speakers? Sounds like these systems work well with the HD Boom flashed or not?

What are you guys thoughts on 8 inch vs. 6x9 in the bags? I kinda like the lids I see for 8 inch speakers, my wife likes the 6x9 more flush look. On the 6x9 what mounting kit, or replacement lids are you finding to work the best?

Thanks

Fade is front to back. I never used it on the old bike. I guess some people like it. Maybe the wife says its to loud but you like it so you can fade it.
8s in the lid, some like the look some dont, personal prefrence. More sound with the 8, more power needed also.
Seems most guys were/are using the RF kit. Im not cutting my lids unless the wife wants more sound then the TP speakers are putting out.

Did you have any issue with screw holes lining up with the speaker and the pod? Did you need any spacer or did they drop in cleanly? I'm thinking of getting a pair as my current 6.5 HAT coax need really thick spacers and get in the way.

EDIT: Sorry, didn't see that you have a pre-Rushmore bike
