Has anyone else had this issue? Is it fixable or are the speakers shot?
I have a pair of GZCF 6.5SPL speakers in my fairing powered by an SPX700x4, speaker level inputs to the amp from my factory GT6.5. I set the amp bridged, with a meter, to 200W with the high pass at 80 hz as per the dealer. I really like them for the first few months then I started getting distortion, first on the right speaker and now on both. The dealer would not warranty them as there was no physical damage "or instance something coming loose or disconnected, it would be hard to warranty the speaker." This has gotten progressively worse and now they are more than a year old. I upped the high pass to 100 then 125, still have distortion. I hate to toss a $300 pair of speakers after only a year of use. I live in ND so a year of use is really 5 months or so.
Any help or experience, if it exists, would be appreciated. TIA, you all are great.

First I would ohm test the speakers.
Second I would double check the speaker wiring at speakers and at amp. Especially at the amp since it has the plug. Wiggle that plug around and see if that fixes anything.
Is your radio flashed?

Thanks, I will give each of those a try.
Yes, I have the Rockford flash installed.
distortion from the head unit killed my first set. did you find the volume where your head unit distorts.
No, but I have a feeling that contributed to it. What is the best method to find this volume? I am guessing it is about 3/4 from what I have been experiencing.
