GTS blues
Last week I installed a sound stream St4 1000 amp and matched it with Polk speakers. Got home wired everything up, protection light on the amp kept coming on, bad ground, fixed that and everything was great. I didn’t want to blast it because I needed to flatten my EQ curve before tuning the amp.
I tried for 3 days to get to the Harley shop for a flash and all 3 days, the rain said nope. I don’t mind a rain, but this was like monsoon season lol. Finally got there yesterday and got the RF flash. Jumped on my bike to head home and tested the radio, nothing. The radio wouldn’t play sound unless the bike was running. I am using speaker lvl inputs from the head unit to the amp. (Forgot the RF flash adjusted the volts.
so I rode for 2 hours home knowing I was going to be taking the fairing off again and adjusting and finding the issue.
only now, the protection light is back on and staying on. The manual says that’s a speaker problem, checked speaker wires, ground wire, and power. Everything was good. Still wouldn’t play music unless the bike was running. So I went ahead and added a remote wire even though the manual said I don’t need one. Well not everything is perfect. Sounds great, loud and working.
put the fairing back on, no sound 🙄. It was late so I figured I’d tackle it in the morning. So I got up this morning and found the problem, when I put the fairing back in, it pulled the remote connection lose. So I fixed that and off I went to test it.
the wife said she wanted to be able to hear the radio at 55mph. Now she’s saying it’s to loud at 80 mph. I consider that above and beyond my expectations.
