I've searched the forms about the Sena Freewire and having an echo. Most of the threads were from 2017. I just got the freewire and have the echo on phone calls and voice commands. Does anyone with a freewire NOT have this problem? Sena is useless trying to tell me that side tone is always on, on the Harleys. Is there a fix? Do I just have a bad unit? I've tried everything I can find online. My set up: 2016 Ultra Classic with the Boom GTS (from a 2020 Ultra Limited) Sena 50s, Sena freewire, Samsung S21 Ultra and Android Auto is enabled. Thanks in advance.
Never had it in mine. Try this:
- connect the Freewire to the rear din, to eliminate wiring issues.
- disconnect your phone from the info system, and disable Bluetooth, to eliminate the phone.
- turn the VOX completely down, and push PTT to talk into the intercom. That will elimite VOX doing weird stuff.
- find a buddy with an Ultra and hook it up to his bike, to eliminate the bike.
FWIW I wasnt happy with the 50 series for other issues. And went back to the 10U. Sena support is amongst the worst in support.
Maybe not totally ethical, but take advantage of Amazons generous return policy, and slap around Sena. Buy a 10 series Sena headset from Amazon. If it still has the problem its likely your Freewire. Thrn return the 10 series. And then figure out how to return the Freewire.

turn SIDETONE off in the headset, using the SENA tool or via the headset
on the SENA EVO 20S you did the following:
Page 50 21.13 Enabling/Disabling Sidetone Voice Prompt “Sidetone”
Factory Default Disable
Enable Tap the Phone Button
Disable Tap the Jog Dial
Sidetone is the sound of your own voice as picked up by your headset’s microphone and reproduced in your own ear, by your own speaker. It helps you to naturally speak at the correct level according to varying helmet noise conditions. If this feature is enabled, you can hear what you are speaking during an intercom conversation or a phone call.
...and its bl@@dy irritating! I had it with my Freewire and 20S EVO back in the day (which was a Wednesday) until I turned it off

Sidetone is off on the 50s. If I connect directly to the 50s and not use the freewire I have no sidetone (echo). It only comes on when I introduce the freewire into the mix. Sena is trying to say it is always on when using a freewire but reading on here some say that don't have that problem however those threads were from 2017.
The Boom GTS wasn't even out at that time.
I have Sena 20S EVO headset with HD speakers, sounds great connected to my phone. Added Freewire to my 2022 Tri-Glide, barley hear the radio, turn up volume and get distortion, do not have stereo sound, one speaker, reset both, still no changes. Help!
Woodyslastride,
It would help if you gave more specific information. Is it only a volumn issue?
Why the Freewire? How is it connected? What is it paired with?
What do you mean by HD speakers? the built in ones or in the headset?
Is your Sena 20 a HD stamped one?
What is the phone paired with? Bike? Freewire? Sena?

Maybe with more info some of us can help.
Cheers
my headset a 20s evo with upgraded helmet speakers, not harley branded, freewire connected to headset and plugged in to harley . If the volume is turned up, i get a bad sound distortion. It's like a bad pair of car speakers turned all the way up with distortion. Only 1 helmet speaker has any real sound. The phone is paired with the bike and my headset.
I have GTS radio
I have Freewire plugged into wired headset connector.
Headset is paired to the iPhone and to the Freewire. Make sure your pairings are correct (one is phone pair, other is 'bike' pair.
I get stereo music and hear everything in headsets, xm, am,fm,nav prompts
and intercom works for passenger to passenger or to other bikes.
You will never get good sound on non-harley Sena units (thanks HD)
I suggest you first test your sound with the built in speakers in the fairing to see if radio is functioning without wireless connection. Maybe there is a radio issue?
I got rid of my Sena HD units and WHIM and converted to Cardo Packtalk EDGE and freewire. Amazing and mesh is so much better and Cardos are waterproof.
