I have a 21 CVO Streetglide with Factory radio, I added the Factory Tour Pack and 2 extra Rockford Fosgate Speakers and an extra AMP - all through my purchasing HD Dealer. When you switch from Radio to Bluetooth or Plugged in volume drops 20 - 30% - So even with 6 Rockford Fosgate speakers and 2 amps at 80MPH on the Highway I can only listen to the radio - not a playlist. Harley Dealer said nothing wrong. Yet my phone plugged into to my friends Roadglide and another's Ultra - no change in volume. Thier phones plugged into mine - volume drops the same way. Anyone dealt with this or have a solution??? I work a lot so most of my trip are long weekend rides in places you cant get a signal half the time. Bike is 2 years old this month with 18000 miles. Any help would be appreciated!!!
Welcome to the forum. Only asking because I've done it myself - is the volume on your phone all the way up?
check this first, for some reason I went thru a spell with my iPhone where every time I connected in my truck or the bike it would knock my phone’s volume down to about 3/4. I could turn it up and it would stay… until the next time I connected to one of my vehicles. I have no idea why it started doing it or why it stopped doing it… it’s been 9 months since it’s done it though.
I'm NOT an expert in bike audio, but the description that you have provided suggests to me that there is a setting in the receiver that limits the output (volume) based upon the source input.
I have a system that has an internal gain control for any aux or BT device.
I recommend digging into the manual for the receiver and checking to see if this might be your issue.
I have tried a couple other phones, different cables - same result. Hooked my phone up to a friend's Road Glide and another's ultra and the volume did not drop.
I did go through the manual line by line, HD has had it twice and can't figure it out but will not order a new unit. This was a last-ditch effort before going aftermarket and spending more $$$ I don't have LOL!

Maybe try a hard reset in settings?
Did you check the audio routing settings?
