I put the SoundStream HDHU in my 2005 Road Glided last summer and absolutely love it, sourced from Volunteer. Apple CarPlay is worth the cost. Rode to Sturgis from NY, listened to Sirius and used Waze the entire way with zero issues. Great unit. I have basic Hogtunes front speaker and amp with lid speakers, plug and play. The speakers and amp are not fancy or expensive. The SoundStream is pricy, but dam once the CarPlay boots up, you see where the money was spent. I was also able to drop my SIrius subscription for the bike, I just use the App on my phone which is a tag along form my Jeep subscription, so free on the bike. Give it a look.
Im impressed w/ this head unit. Didnt know it existed when I put the Rockford Fosgate unit in my 07 last year.
I like the idea of CarPlay and the nav screen being right there on the dash.
Do you have a BT helmet by chance, or do you just use the amp and speakers on the bike?
My exhaust is too loud to be able to hear my speakers w/ the full face helmet, but if this can split the audio to the helmet and have nav on the screen its worth considering a swap for me.
I run a half helmet or no helmet if the State allows, so I do not have a response to your question about BT. My bike is pretty loud, I hear the music just fine. The screen on the SS is really big, makes following along with Waze a breeze and on a Road Glide it is in the perfect spot. No more looking down at the handle bar mounted GPS. Personal preference, but I hate the Navigation talking to me, I look at the map and the written/visual directions. I have been doing it that way since my Garmin Zumo from 2007. Bad part, I need to wear glasses or at least cheaters to read the directions. Good part, music does not cut out to tell me to make a right. I do the same in any vehicle, her yelling at me to turn right really bothers me.
