2015 Ultra with a 2019 GTS Head unit. I have tried to get Car Play with the dongle, without the dongle, helmet with WIRED headset. When trying to activate CarPlay on my phone I hear "no microphone connected." I have tried 2 headsets, one is HD and the other is not.
Cant figure it out. Any help out there?
TIA
OK so i talked to the PO and he said the GTS was flashed for the WHIM so the wired headset is disabled.
Since the WHIM has been connected, you are correct in that you will not be able to use the wired headsets.
You still have some choices.
1. Obtain a wireless headset and connect
2. If you don't want to go wired, disconnect the WHIM and plug the headset connections back in.
3. If you also have an android phone, connect with AA.
The website that sells those "dongles" (if you are talking about the jumper that plugs in under the fairing) usually have a note in the descriptions that says they won't work if radio has been flashed for WHIM.
I would get rid of the jumper under the fairing on an Ultra, and plug the wired headset harness back in myself.... with the "right jumper" you can use or not use a headset more easily.... this jumper (plugs in to the headset jack, Note: some have has to plug it into the passenger jack)
But get the bike flashed to disable WHIM, and use a wired headset to get CarPlay to work. FWIW, HD's half helmet wired headsets are not CarPlay compatible (read the fine print), but the full face ones like that came with the bike are. Once that's working then try the jumper of your choice... next it will be the wireless module
FWIW, HD's half helmet wired headsets are not CarPlay compatible
Man, we just can't catch a break from HD. Interesting to know about that half helmet headset not working with CarPlay. I've got one and it works fine with Android Auto.

I don't believe this is true.
The Harley half helmet headset do work the carplay. Just make sure you get the correct headset.
"Fits 98-later FLHTCU, FLHTCUSE, FLHTK, FLHTKSE, FLTRU, FLTRUSE and FLHTCUTG models. Also fits with vehicles equipped with Communication Switch Kit P/N 77173-08 or Boom! Audio Music and Intercom Kits. Not compatible with Apple Car Play."
FWIW, I have never tried to use the HD one myself, I already had a cheap Amazon one that worked great, although I hardly ever use it.

I agree - this one does not work - but, the regular headset that can be installed on a half helmet does indeed work. My wife uses one.
I actually use HD's Full Face - 3/4 Helmet headsets in/on my 1/2 helmet also, but my half helmet has the snap-in ear covers (pockets for speakers). Like these https://www.harley-davidson.com/us/e...set/p/77117-10
But if a person's 1/2 helmet doesn't have the ear pockets and they need/want a headset that has the frame like HD's half helmet ones, I've never had a problem with these and they're a little cheaper than the HD ones
