Default My dads bike.

2016 CVO

My dad passed away 2 years ago and I just now got around to bringing his CVO home. I have quite a few bikes and other things and I only have a carport so it’s just been sitting at my parents house, unfortunately.

The battery has been dead for just under two years and when I rode it last year, I could jump it off and riding it around long enough would give it a charge for a day. I just bought a brand new Duracell battery and fob batteries.

My problem is the sound isn’t working at all (it’s not muted). I have ridden it twice in the last 2 years and the sound worked fine. He has some Rokker amp/speaker setup on it. I’m pretty decent with audio equipment but I’m wondering before I start taking fairings off and looking for inline fuses etc is there something on the handlebars or in the HU I could be missing? I really appreciate any help.

As with any electrical glitch, the first thing I'd suggest is to pull the main fuse, or disconnect the battery for a few minutes, then reconnect. This tends to reset things which might take care of your issue.

Pretty easy to remove the front of the fairing after checking all the fuses, etc. Never know if mice go in there and chewed some wires. Then look to make sure everything is connected correctly.

If it was me, I would wash it off good, clean up any crap, pull all the panels and visually check the wiring along with all the grounds.

Flush the brake fluid and give it a good going over, then if it still has issues, start trouble shooting.

I had an aftermarket amp that had a reset button on it. Once in about every 4 years it would trip and I would need to take the fairing off to reset, just push the button and the lights came on. Good luck.
