6.5" Biketronics Hertz speakers installed in CVO Speaker Boxes--Pictures
Some here, myself included, have installed the 2011 CVO SG fairing lower speaker boxes in our vented lowers and used a variety of speakers in the boxes. Given the popularity of the Biketronics Hertz 6.5" speakers, I asked a buddy who installed them in his 2011 CVO SG fairing lowers to send me pics to post here.
The pictures show: the OEM speaker with the BT Hertz speaker; the sealed connectors used on the SESG2 speakers and the adapter BT provided for using the BT Hertz speakers; and the BT Hertz installed.
When he spoke to BT about using the Hertz speakers in the lowers, he was told that they had reports about fitment issues for this application, but he had none when he did his installation.
For us non-SESG2 owners, using the speaker boxes in vented lowers is described in this thread:
BT sell those adapters separately? I have my speaker boxes painted and waiting for installation, just waiting on the new rockford fosgate amp, and I will need those adapters or I'll have to just make my own.

If your bike is an SESG2, yes, you'll want the adapters because that's what the speaker wiring on that bike uses. The adapters aren't needed for a non-SESG2 installation. If you notice, the Hertz speakers use a standard spader connector.

Hmm, I may not use the CVO jumper harnesses then when I do my installation. Speaker wire straight from the amp to the speakers may just be the better way to go.
Shouldn't be an issue using speaker wire from speaker to amp. I used the HD OEM SG jumper harnesses primarily because they come with the PVC black tubing to protect the wiring and I didn't know of a vendor for the tubing.
"The sound is much clearer with these speakers while on the road. I got better mids and a little better bass which was all I think I could expect for the limited mods I did."
I should be running 2 hertz in the dash and 2 in the CVO boxes as soon as my stuff comes back from the painter. For now I'm going to push them though my 2 channel arc amp. Down the road I going to change out my head for a sony unit and a 4 channel amp.

I am taking my Sony HU out and I will have to Hawg Wired adaptor that allows you to use your hand controls.
How do you run the wires to the lowers? Is there a quick disconnect that works well?
