CD Player quit

I have a 2007 Ultraclassic. I was on the freeway listening to a tune on a CD when I hit a pothole and the CD player quit working and gave disc error 1 message. When I put in another CD I got the same Disc read error. Are these units repairable or worth repairing? I saw a thread reply that mentioned a new component coming on the market that will let you use an iPod or iPhone and control it with the standard handlebar controls. it will sell for about $300. Seems like that might be a better solution anyway. Does anybody have any experience on getting the HK units repaired?
